Thanks you very much for all your responses Christopher. I really
appreciate it. Will try the bios update since that is the last thing I can
try.
Thanks again.

dotty, i think this is too hard to troubleshoot via the news group so i
won't try again. you have to provide a complete picture in order for the
chance of getting a meaningful solution. i asked about the system bios
version because the latest available is a13 and some time back there was a
fix for 'pcmcia lan card malfunction'. so i suggest that you look into
that or just update it to the latest and see if that sorts out the
problem. and i again suggest that while in safe mode you look in system
properties to see if you have multiple occurrences of the card listed.
delete them all and try again. good luck.

I installed the latest version of the software ver 4.3 I think it was. I
did not install the card first. I installed the software first as the
install guide recommended. I also tried installing the software from safe
mode with no success.

which version software did you use? what version bios does the inspiron
2650 have? did you happen to install (insert) the card prior to
installing the software? if so then remove the card, uninstall the
netgear software, restart the system in safe mode (f8 during boot/dell
logo will allow you to start windows in safe mode), open system
properties and delete all appearances of the netgear card from the
hardware list, restart normally, install the netgear software, and then
insert the card.

Yes, I downloaded the latest and the correct version for the card.

did you visit netgear.com and try to download the latest version of
their software and firmware or are you using the cd that came with the
card?

note that there are several version of this card. be sure to look at
your card for the version number and download only the appropriate
software.

Thank you Tom.
I guess that's what it comes down to.
Thanks again.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the card doesn't play well with other
devices. Not that uncommon. I'd consider returning it and trying
another brand.

I probably didn't make it clear that I do indeed have SP2 installed.
Netgear is saying that is the problem. DUnno

I am trying to install a wireless card in a Dell Inspiron 2650
laptop. It's
a brand new hard drive with a new installation of XP home. I
cannot get the
Netgear WG511T wireless PC card to install. I get the error code
12 not
enough resources and to disable another device. That is not
acceptable. I
have been to the Netgear site and no help there except for it
saying that
SP2 might be the problem. Any ideas on what I can do to get this
card to
work and get along with all the other devices?
TIA
dotty
SP2?
If that might be the solution, wouldn't you try it? You need it
anyway.
The other choice is to disable anything you're not using -- Serial
port, parallel port, etc.
Tom
