Re: SATA cable

Thanks Pat. I couldn't find a 39" cable either, so I went with an 18"
latching right angle 3GBs from Ebay for a total cost of $5.94. Figured I
could take a chance for that small amount. I did get the downward angle, so
the case cover should close. Will know in a few days.

I have a Dimension 9150 and used this 18" "right angle" SATA cable from
newegg a little cheaper than Buy.com.

With gas prices so high, the shipping on these small parts costs more than
the parts :(
You really need a 39" ~ 1m cable to route it the way dell has the original
drive cable routed, but I haven't found the "right angle" connectors in
that length yet. While this cable does have the "right angle" connector,
you will find like I did, that the cable still gets bent backwards over
itself to close the case, but it will close. Apparently there are right
and left handed "right angle" connectors, which will make sense when you
go to install it. It seems that the 1.5GBs and 3GBs are in fact the same
thing. But, maybe someone on the group can correct me on that.

I just installed an additional 250 gig Western Digital Hard Drive that
comes with a secure connection SATA cable. This cable covers the SATA
power connector so I had to also plug in a traditional Molex connector.
Neither of these cables is right angle, so the D9100 cover doesn't close
completely (1/4 inch opening at the front top). None of my local stores
carries SATA 300 right angle cables , so I have to use the Internet.

I'm thinking of removing the Western Digital cable and Molex, and
purchasing a regular SATA cable with 1 right angle
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10363780&loc=101&sp=1 . I would
then use the right-angle SATA power connector already in the Dell.

I'm wondering if this back-ordered secure latching latching SATA cable
would be better.
