I have a Win XP cd which is a generic version but the COA I have is for a
Fujitsu PC. I wish to install XP on a Dell Dimension 8200 either as a
additional operating system to Win 2K or as an upgrade to Win 2K. Does
anyone know if the COA will work with a generic Win XP installation disk
or
come to that will it work with a Dell Win XP disk?
Bruce.
Generic?
Retail or OEM
OEM would work, but would violate the license agreement. The COA belongs to
the Fujitsu machine.

You would have to do the phone activation, if the fujitsu machine is
dead, any you can convince a Microsoft employee in India of this, they
will usually let you activate the licence anyway. You would need an OEM
disk, not the retail product to get past entering the product key.
