Re: Partition Ideas - Your Advice, Please?

Here's the way I look at it. I haven't had to do a full disaster
recovery yet, but Maxtor (owned by Seagate) is one of the world's
largest hard drive manufacturers. They should know a lot more about
disk drives than the rest of us. If Maxtor provides Retrospect as the
backup software for their One-Touch backup drives, then I am going to
assume that they know what they are doing.

I'd like someone to say that my suggested scenario (previous post) can be
done with Retrospect. As I understand the situation an "image" is taken
shortly after Retrospect is installed and an "image" and "data" backup is
restored later in the event of a hard drive failure. The Retrospect web site
is short on details. I don't want to use it. I'd just like to know if it
can
match Ghost, True Image etc in the event of a catastrophe.

Anyone had experience recovering from a hard drive failure with this app?

Why don't you believe it?? The major packages all have proven "bare metal"
restore processes. The key is that you set up backup job and the necessary
tools to accomplish it.

If, though, you are saying that one can't "know" that a restore process
will work for your setup until you actually try it, we're on the same
page.
