Re: installing dell resource cd

With everyones help, I was able to get the sound and video working on this
machine. However after downloading the 3Com 3C905C drivers and the
Diagnostics Utility, i am still unable to get to recognize the integrated
network card. The Ethernet Controller and ther PCI Communications Controller
still gets flagged with the yellow question mark.

I have noticed there are extra extra com ports on this machine. I am
guessing they had some sort of network on it that used com ports. I do not
know that much about the com ports. It also has the ethernet network
connection marked as disabled. When i looked at the Network Interface
Controller in the setup, it is listed as being ON. I can change it to "ON w/
PXE.....ON w/RPL....or OFF.
Maybe it is possible someone changed the com port on the network controller?

There are 5 connections marked as com ports. There is one marked Manual
Station. Two printer ports and one is marked disabled.
I was woindering if i take all the extra cards out maybe the system will see
the network controller and put it on the correct com port? I am guessing
here, but I am sure ya'll can tell, my knowledge is limited on this subject.

I do appreciate any and all help.

I recently had to fdisk and reformat the hard drive. I was able to get
Windows XP installed. However the Dell Resource CD is another story. I ran
the setup, and it seemed to install just fine. The drivers for the
Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Communications
Controller (which there are 2 entries for this), and the video controller
did not install.
I went to the help file and it said unzip and install the Desktop System
Software first. I unzipped the files and it was installing until it popped
up a window that says..."Setup Cannot Run On This Machine" I also unzip
some other files to the Dell directory but nothing so far as seemed to
work.
I just changed ownership of this machine through Dell and they sent me the
2 restore CD's. Any chance they sent a wrong disc?
Does anyone have any idea how i can get all the drivers installed?
