when was the last time you defragged your computer?

Dan

About four days ago .

Do you have Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy? If you do, when
was the last time you ran them?

Have not run those programs . Ran them on my HP win98, an had
nothing but trouble with them. Don't have much faith in software
when it doesn't work right.
Thanks
Larry
When did you run them on the HP computer because if it was a long
time ago? The programs have greatly improved. I have no problems
with Adaware and only minor problems on On my Compaq Win98 PC,
Adaware had problem about 8 years ago. It would not let me connect
to the net. I had to restore the PC.

It was less than 3 years when i had both. I went with spybot for a
while. Just installed spybot 1.4 , it found some stuff and removed it
but still have long startup time.

type msconfig in your run command and click on Startup. Type any filenames that you do not recognize either the filename or the
directory it is in and maybe me or someone else can help what is
causing it.

Will Do. Here is the ones i do not know. "WKLFind,Undreg,SM1BG".The rest are roxio drag to disk norton AV an few others.
Thanks Larry
do you mean wkufind? If yes, than it is needed for MS Works/Picture It. If not, check this thread http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/337088-slow-boot-up.html#post2419991

SM1BG is needed. It is installed with iTunes, Napster and USB devices. This program is a non-essential system process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Can't find anything on Undreg. In msconfig startup, what is the location for it?
