Re: (OT) It didn't take MS long to screw up Giant anti-spyware did it?

As of about a month ago, updates from Microsoft AntiSpyware to Windows
Defender occurred automatically depending on the user settings.

Part of the changes in the original product were necessitated for global
availability.

Also do not confuse the original Giant Antispyware with Microsoft
AntiSpyware.
Along with Windows Defender, they are 3 different products.

Expect updates for Microsoft AntiSpyware to continue until July 2006 IIRC
when it expires.
As for Giant Antispyware, that depends on the contract for the original
product.
In either case, Giant or Microsoft AntiSpyware, they are effectively
obsolete and replacements should be found before expiration date.

I see where existing installs of MS (Giant) anti-spyware continue to be
updated and seem to still obtain updates and whatnot.

Of course, some of us were stupid enough to "upgrade" (cough, cough) to
Windows Defender.

Seems buggy to me, the GUI is less friendly and I can only hope that it's
actually functioning

Gee, they coulda just left the Giant software alone. Oh wait, we're
talking about the Redmond mafia here.

If you've got the original MS anti-spyware and like it, hang on to it for
as long as you can. It can't be downloaded at this point, and my last
downloaded core .exe for it won't install, generating date-related
messages.

Probably a user error.
