Somebody more rational? Pretty rude thing to say to a potential customer.
Sounds like I may have hit a nerve. And all I did was simply point out the
lack of professionalism of your site, and the inflated prices.
I have no problem if you find people willing to pay your high prices, but
you have got to be kidding me if can't take simple, honest, and straight
forward criticism of the lack of candor on your site and the absurd pricing
found there. To call that criticism irrational, is, well, irrational. In
fact, you can't can get more rational than wanting to know who you are
giving your money two when you are talking about servers that cost
potentially thousands of dollars.
But if you want me to spell out rational behavior here it goes...
For anyone looking to buy a used computer, first understand what the current
market is or you will pay too much.
This is easily done by checking out the current prices the configuration of
a new machine you want from Dell and from the Dell Outlet.
Dell sells server new for less that lots many used/refurbished dealers ask
(particularly those on this guys site).
Second, if you are going to buy anything used buy it from a reputable source
that clearly states their business policies, their return policy, their
place of business, and their warranty. Someone like
http://focustechnology.com/ who is a large competitive priced dealer of used
equipment who treats customers with respect before and after the sale (and
who doesn't just have a free yahoo account for email and a $9 domain name
with a different registration address than their place of business).
Best of luck.

Rhonda, thanks for letting us know about this thread.
I am Vik Voroshylo, one of the founders of UOGold.com.
Let's get the address issue cleared:
Anybody who places an order with us receives our address. It's on our
invoices, in emails that eBay sends out - everywhere. We follow eBay
approach - customers get to know seller's physical address, others do
not need it. We have never got any complaints or requests about it so I
am inclined to disregard Christopher's gripes unless we hear from
somebody more rational that without address posted on the website they
would not buy from us.
We used to have an address posted a while ago but found out that it has
it's disadvantages: people sometimes pop in to "browse" our inventory
or "talk servers". Our technicians who work in the warehouse do not
have time for walk-in traffic - they are busy configuring, testing and
shipping servers. Our promise to our customers is that we ship most of
the servers the same day we receive payment and we take it very
seriously. We claim to be the best on price, availability an technical
expertise of our sales and technical personnel. We do not put much
value in corporate web presence unless we realize that we are loosing
customers because of that.
We removed the page with the address and all these "About Us" corporate
pages because by analyzing the traffic to our site we saw that nobody
cares.
I hope I explained our reasons. We'll be happy to answer any questions
about Dell PowerEdge servers or our business you may have.
Of course, everybody is welcome to check our website
http://www.uogold.com or call us at 732-518-0014 if you need PowerEdge
servers at great prices.
I guess, since this is alt.sys.pc-clone.dell I should mention that we
sell Dell Precision Workstations as well: Precision 380, 470, and 670.
Now, when most desktops come with 90-days or 1-year warranty, these
workstations are covered by Dell's 3-year Next Business Day On Site
warranty - the same as on the servers. We list a limited number of them
on eBay but have many more in stock, so please call.
Thank you for the good words.
Best Regards,
Vik
