Thanks Tom,
I have bought the memory and installed it without any problems. Just
wondering what exactly happens with this hibernation issue? also where do I
turn it off, and where is th hibernation file stored.

You have to turn off hibernation, delete the hibernation file and turn it
back on. This lets it increase the file size.
Make sure your machine supports a single 1GB. Some don't.

Hi,
I am looking at upgrading the ram in my laptop an Inspiron 8600. Current
config is 2x256mb PC2700. I am planning to buy a 1Gb stick to replace one
of the 256mb sticks and was wondering if anyone had any advise when it
comes to installing the memory. I have heard of people having problems
with hybernating etc after increasing the system's ram. Any advise is
appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Robert
