Hi all.........

Not sure if this has ever been asked before but it appears searching the
net for this particular issue is looking for a needle in a
haystack......

I have a situation where unfortunately I have to use an image made from
a seperate machine and restore it to a Dimension 3100........Reason
being there is certain vital software installed that has no original
installer anymore...........

I can deal with setting up hardware and and all that jazz except for
this one glitch I've encountered and did not anticipate.......
Upon boot after the restore of the image it obviously shouts at me to
connect a PS2 mouse and goes no furthur.....This is obviously a USB only
machine with NO PS2 connections..........I suppose I'll have trouble
with the keyboard........

Besides wanting to know how to resolve this issue, in general, am I
going to have more trouble trying to run 98se on this machine? I tried
using the 98se disk to scan the devices and install the drivers but got
some wild error about 32bit apps running and it halted the system.......

I'm a little jumbled on the info & apologize as I't 2am I've worked on 4
machines already and my brain hurts..........

You're likely out of luck. 98 was better about adapting to new hardware
than XP, but the 3100 was not designed for 98. You may need to keep the old
machine just for that application.
