There seems to be a little confusion.
There are really only two versions of XP. Home and Pro. Pro has more
extensive networking and security.
MCE is purely marketing. It is an application, pure and simple. The
underlying OS of MCE is XP Pro. The only limitation is that MCE lacks two
Pro features: the ability to connect to a Domain (although there is a
hack)
and Cached Credentials. Unless you connect to a corporate LAN, neither
should matter to you.
As for stability, it is quite stable, since it is XP Pro. If you don't use
the MCE app, well, you don't use the MCE app. I do, and it works well.
For example, MCE has both Remote Desktop and Internet Information Server
(IIS).

Tom this is really good news to me. I didn't know that MCE had both
remote desktop and Internet Information Server. I thought I was
limiting myself by going with MCE but not really, I can still play
with some of the development apps. I had wrongly assumed that MCE was
home with the "application" added on to it.
Thanks for the info!

MS does a lousy job at explaining this :)
