Apologies if I'm confused. Is the problem that Windows itself wants to "re-detect" the printer whenever any application or Windows function is attempted?
Never apologize when try to help. <g>
The problem started right after I installed the driver for the 3100cn printer. Since then everytime I try to start up many, but not all programs, the Windows Installer kicks in and flashes a few time.
As I already said, it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Among the instances of this happening:
Start any MS Office 2003 application
Create a new e-mail in Outlook
Start Control Panel
Start Windows Explorer.
Stangely, if it indeed was caused by the printer driver, there's no problem printing. The only thing I did notice is that when the driver is through installing there's supposed to be a print test page button in the dialog box, but all I get a finish button.
Thanks for your interest.
Bob
