I sat in all day last Friday and all day yesterday waiting for Dell to
send a laptop adapter on the collect and return system. It was so say
dispatched so I guess is somewhere but get no answer as to where, just I
am going to get another call re delivery which it says on the status
page. I was very pee'd off waiting in two days. plus as I am dial up I
didn't go online in case they rang. I must be mad. I have no other
person or neighbour that can accept it for me.
All faith in Dell went out of the window and my laptop won't charge but
I don't know if it's the adapter or as someone else in the group
suggested, the motherboard or maybe the jack. My warranty runs out in 7
days.
First thing today a call - from Dell, I start to tell them how mad I am
that they've let me down but it was a warranty renewal call and nothing
to do with "them". For just under £100 I get a three year warranty and
they come to my house and repair the laptop, if I go for it then a
service engineer will visit my house and repair my laptop.
On the strength it could be my motherboard and cost the earth I went for
it. I have 7 days to mull it over.
How good are these warranties? Will it be easy to get through to the
request for service number? Will I sit in all day waiting for a techy
that never shows?
Any thoughts gratefully received. I am in the UK remember...

Ok sorry to see no replies but in case anyone is interested.
The adapter turned up today, this was my fourth day of waiting in. I
went to the Dell online chat, that was a good experience and the guy
confirmed my order was going to be despatched today, gave me his word
and it came.
Bad news. It isn't the adapter at fault. So I now have to go through it
all again. This time I have the at home warranty. I don't know the
difference between at home and collect and return - if any.
I will soon find out.
Watch this space!
