Thanks for the advice. That really helps. Even the graphics card documentation says that the first step in getting HDTV to display, is getting the INPUT signal via COMPOSITE (which I think is YPrPb) cables into the card.

Perhaps that is because the graphics card doesn't support HDCP
either...

It almost certainly doesn't (I don't believe even the latest offerings by either ATI or nVidia do), and furthermore it doesn't matter much for the original poster unless he wants to buy a whole new monitor. HDCP is an end-to-end connection, meaning both the video card and the monitor have to support it (and for that matter the OS).
