Why I prefer Latitudes.....

I just bought a used D600 from a ebay vendor (my 8th or 9th overall, but 1st
from this vendor). I bought it after verifying that the system had over 9
mos of complete care/onsite Dell warranty remaining. The system will
ultimately be owned by another user.
I used this particular vendor only because DFS (Dell Financial Services)
didn't have the configuration I wanted and I needed the machine in a hurry.
Well, guess what? The system has been cosmetically raw-hided and the AC
adapter is damaged. Even though the vendor has a "good" feedback rating on
ebay, I sent him a scathing e-mail about the condition of the machine and
asked him what sort of feedback I should leave him ....no reply back yet,
imagine that.
So, I get on the horn today to Dell tech. Reach the Latitude queue and the
expected genuine domestic tech. They referenced the e-mail request for parts
I sent last night, she asked me the needed t-shooting steps for the AC
adapter, and then didn't give me any grief about the 3-4 parts that suffered
cosmetic damage from such harsh treatment by some idiot. (Amazingly, the
system passed all tests in an overnight loop of extended diags, one tough
sumbuck. The only error is due to the damaged AC adapter.)
I requested parts only, as I can do it myself and didn't want to have to
wait or play phone tag with an onsite tech.
It sure is nice to have solid support, which is why I love me some
Latitudes.
That is all.
