and this, my friend, is why you shouldn't buy a sony laptop.
of *course* there is no reason that XP Pro won't run on it, if MCE
does. however, sony go out of their way to make it difficult to
download drivers for reasons best known to themselves - so if you put a
clean install of xp pro on you'll need to dig around 3rd party sites to
get them. this idiocy extends to giving different model numbers to
identical laptops that are supplied with different OSs on them...
if you *must* buy a vaio, just ask them "where can i download XP pro
drivers for all devices on this laptop?" and if you don't get a clear
answer then proceed at your own risk.
