The point of forums is to exchange information. That is what I was doing. I was not asking for your help, but I appreciate your willingness to provide help. That is also what I was doing -- providing information to help people make a decision about a product.
I provided specifics about the problems with these drivers. Those specifics are easily verifyable. It is also verifyable that Intel has not addressed the verifyable problems with the drivers.
I hope your system continues to function sufficiently that you never see the problems with these card's drivers.

Not having a problem with the card. Stopped using it. Merely advising against using the Intel 2200bg and 2915abg due to driver issues unresolved by Intel.
The hardware seems capable.
I was always able to connect with the card, but always had to 'play' with it to maintain an adequate connection. There are driver issues with the card -- and I'm glad you don't see them and are happy with your card.

Excellent advice. Doesn't correct the driver problems, but that does eliminate the large overhead for the Intel utility.

Read the thread. Also tried multiple drivers. The problems with the Intel cards remain unaddressed by Intel.
Go back through multiple drivers released for these cards. Read the release notes. Note that Intel has not addressed the issue of the card reporting it is transmitting at one power setting but is in fact transmitting at another rate (this is certainly a bug). No release notes address this issue.

1) The Transmit Power setting is supposed (per Intel documentation) to be at maximum by default. It is not. In fact, you can set it to maximum, but whenever the card is re-started (startup, log in, etc.), the transmit power drops to about 40%. Note that the setting in the cards advanced properties is still set to whatever you set it. The card just ignors the setting until you reset it. If you want to verify this, get Net Stumbler or some such, monitor the connection when you change the Transmit Power setting.
2) The cards transmit speed varies wildly and eventually drops to 1mbps. At that setting, the card ceases to communicate. Disabling then re-enabling the card 'fixes' this until it drops again.
