Could it be that the newer version of zone alarm needs more horsepower than the older versions, and that is why the complaints seem to be coming from users with slower older computers?

I have been tracking this thread. I just experienced the exact problem. I was running a Ghost backup of a laptop system. The Ghost Server program was running on an old Compaq Deskpro 4000. The backup was running awfully slow--about 15MB/min on a 100mb connection. I realized that I was running the latest ZoneAlarm build from yesterday (61.737.000). Without terminating the backup I stopped ZoneAlarm. The backup accelerated to 75MB/minute. That's a 500% increase.
I won't venture to say that this is the general case. It's what happened in my particular environment. I have two older versions of ZoneAlarm archived. I may try reinstalling those to see if this is a new development. I certainly had not noticed this in the past.

Hi All,
A while back I had questions as to why my Dell 8400 couldn't download faster then 2.7 Mb. I tried a whole lot of thinks to fix this. I found the solution. Uninstall Zone Alarm. Now booting the computer in safe mode didn't help, shutting down Zone Alarm didn't help. Uninstalling it and I now have 5.3 Mb download speed. Go figure, perhaps it needed time to determine if the download was okay.
