the only lesson here is that you should call to return something within the
specified return period (three weeks in this case, which is quite generous
imo).
as a business owner i am sure that you can appreciate that a company has a
return policy with a limited time period .
may i suggest that you call tech support and get the problem resolved before
your warranty period also expires.
