Memory for Inspiron 600m

I am going to buy 1Gb of memory for the Inspiron 600m. I understand that the type to
get is the 200-pin SODIMM PC2700.
However, it appears that I cam get 200-pin DDR2 SODIMMs for less (PC4200). Can I use
those instead, or is it a completely different technology?
