According to the documentation at support.dell.com (always a good place to
start), the Latitude D510 does NOT have a PS/2 port. Therefore a USB mouse
would be the best choice. It likely came with XP, so it should be plug n
play.

She can use either a PS/2 or USB mouse (if she has an available port). If it
is an older/used mouse, she may need to download drivers if she has upgraded
the OS. If she buys a new mouse, then make sure it is compatible with the OS
on her laptop, especially if it has Win95 or Win 98 First Edition installed.
