This may not be the correct newsgroup however, on this computer, this is the
only Dell ng, I get.
(Im using my backup comp. Its old)
Wondering if, somebody could help me please?
Or guide me to the correct ng?
I have a Dell 2350, still basically stock with alot of addons. Ram included.
(yes a new unit is the plans, however. . .. . . .. .)
Recently the 2350 has decided to turn off before it even fully reboots.
No matter what I try,
F12, safemode, diagnostics, etc......
It shuts off before the main window comes up.
Im a chick, self taught---bare with me on the stats.
Dell 2350
60 gig hd,
778? ram.....
Specs here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2350/
Im running up to date, Kaspersky and K anti-hacker.
Plus Webroot spy sweep.
The 2350 is the main computer of the home network---wired.
Have never had an attack, virus, worms, spyware, nor any other attacks since
networking 6 months ago.
(and I do hit some mean underground sites from time to time)
Last nite it started making noises.
I shut it down as it sounded like it was time to cleanup the inside.
It gets quite dusty.
Turned out the floppy was making the noise.
Hasn't worked in a long time.
So I took it out.
All was fine but it was running really doggy.
Like some kind of spyware, or a virus or something.
Ran the anti-scans........nothing.
Today I took it to intrend or whatever's online anti-spyware scan while I
left the house. (surely you know the one I mean?)
Came home to it shut down.
Have not been able to start it up since.
Everytime it gets thru the setup screen but before a full boot, it shuts
off.
Tried safemode, shuts off immediately.
Tried bios, shuts down immediately before even booting there..
Tried, boot from last working, shuts down.
Tried resource cd, shuts down before even booting up with it.
I undid all the add ons inside and out......
networking, firewire, the dvd drive since it hasn't worked lately, zip,
camera, etc.....
Cleaned the dust from the inside, still shuts off.
Took the battery out cleaned it, still shuts off.
Looked at the diagnostic lites in the back during startup.
Basically it goes from D yellow, then AB yellow, then BC yellow then A & D
yellow then it always shuts off.
The color sequinces seem to change a bit but usually always ends A & D
yellow then shut down.
I do believe.
Diagnostic codes listed here:

Oh and a couple times I had the screen say Updating ESCD "success"
Then it shuts off.
Wondering if this is more than likely the motherboard?
A virus, or something?????
Now that I think of it, I have never upgraded the bios.
Not sure if that is an issue?
IF its the motherboard, any suggestions on an upgrade of the one I have?
Or am I better off just replacing it with the same one?
Like I said, I have plans of upgrading the whole unit in the next month or
so.
(Ive a birthday coming)
I only just want to get it to work til then.
Thank you immensely for your help,
ahead of time.
LOL
