I've never seen an IDE extension cable. The 80-pin IDE cables are almost all
very limited in length, because the standard calls for a maximum cable length of
18".
A Dimension XPS-R will not take advantage of the faster throughput afforded by
the 80-pin ultra IDE cable, but the Promise card might.
All I can suggest is a longer 40-pin IDE cable, which may limit slightly the
performance of the hard drives attached to the Promise. I have some 24" 40-pin
IDE cables here, with the second drive connector placed 16" from one end. They
were originally in some old full-height tower cases. Contact me off-line if
you'd like to buy one for a few bucks. Your email address leads me to infer
that you are in NYC, so first class mail would be quick from here to there.
