Twelve years ago today I stubbed out my very last Marlboro and began a
strange and frightening journey toward freedom.
I left addiction, bad habits and junkie thinking along the way, and
gained insight, peace and a bunch of great, new friends as I kept
trudging along. Also, about 45 pounds I didn't need-- but that's
another addiction story. Cold turkey; one foot in front of the other,
looking ahead and trying not to peek back over my shoulder-- maximum
stubbornness. That's how I did it. Yes, I'm proud of myself. One of
the hardest things I've ever done, and very much worth it. So long as
they never find the bodies...
Bless all of you for being here and helping me; bless the memories of
the Great Ladies©-- Dawn, Joyce and Edna; bless the continuing
attempts of all serial quitters and especially the shaky newbies as
they begin to get their feet under them. May you all know the feeling
of freedom and the joy of being rid of tobacco.
Thanks, everyone.
Jumping in late but nevertheless... congrats Jef!
