My new addiction...

I've always been an avid reader. It started years ago when I was a child home with the measles. Mom came home one day with a Nancy Drew book. I've been hooked since.

A few months ago I retired from work (due to health concerns) and at the same time I purchased an e-reader. I am absolutely and thoroughly hooked to my Kindle.

In the past few months I've read 16 books on my Kindle and my Kindle library is now around 45 books, the vast majority of which were free. (I like free!) The first free books I downloaded were some classics that I figured were in the public domain (War & Peace, several Austen novels...) but have learned that many books are available from Amazon for free. Nothing from the NY Times Bestseller lists, but many many books that I never would have read otherwise. Apparently many are offered from free for a short period of time and others are free to introduce the author.

Amazon's list of free books changes constantly. I visit the site several times a week and feel like a kid in a candy store. Yesterday I spent about an hour reading the reviews of the free books and downloaded about 15.

I absolutely love that I can take my Kindle with me everywhere. I purchased a protective cover for it and it fits very nicely into my purse. Now I don't dread the waiting time in doctor's offices. (-:

Are there any readers of AS3 interested in being part of a reading group? I'd love to be part of an informal book club to discuss and share my and others finds. Anyone interested??
