Great news, congrats!

My family physician does baseline screening for COPD on his smoking and
former-smoking patients.
I had mine, yesterday. I am pleased to announce, and it's not often I get
to write this out -- I am normal. Normal! Moi!
Ten and a half years ago I quit smoking. I had smoked for 33(!) years,
the last five years or so, close to two packs per day.
I've wondered, a lot, what damage I had caused to my lungs and was I a
candidate for COPD. (I'm going to ignore the lurking fear I have that I
had one too many cigarettes and there are mutant cells waiting, somewhere,
just to get me.)
But, folks, my lung function is *NORMAL* -- I'm thrilled (hard to tell, eh?).
So, no shortness of breath, no lung capacity problems. nothing.
I'll be checked yearly, from here on in, as I am a diabetic and that nasty
condition affects everything, but...for now ... gimme an EN OH AR EM AY EL.
Thanks AS3, I couldn't have done it without you.
