Yes... I too was on a dial up here in SC until a month or so ago.
So you did not surprise me or my socks.

I'm doing the $5 a month thing for the Earthlink email - so yes that works.
The problem is... you'll lose Earthink news servers - as I found out the
hard way.

I *do* think Comcast has Usenet servers... at least it did when I had them
in NH.

Let me know when you make the switch and I'll help you get usenet access
iether by investigating Comcasts usenet.. or via an Earthlink back door. :)

If you get cable and a router - all your machines (your whole network) can
be on the web 100% of the time. It's schweet.
