I know smokers who can never quit because they defended smoking
in newsgroups and their writing is archived forever.
They can still quit too... but only with the help of Big Pharm.
They all have long track records of rationalization, junkie thinking.
I'm sure they fear quitting and then thinking back on all the defending
they did of smoking and fear being worse than embarrassed. And should
their memories be unequal to the task, every one of the posts is
available in archival for review.
Anyone can have a change of heart. I know I believed/said things when I was younger, that I'm absolutely against now. Can't see why something good like quitting smoking would be embarrassing to anybody. If anything, I would think that would show people just how much someones thinking can change.
