Okay maybe not a whole month of Sundays since I last posted, but
sometimes it feels like it. Life is too busy again. Over the last few
weeks we've had a couple of orchestra concerts, all-region and then
all-state auditions, a homecoming parade, game and dance, a dinner
sponsored by the orchestra, a field trip to Raytheon, and a booth at the
Halloween carnival. I'm POOPED. But I feel very accomplished because
even though I got behind, I'm pretty much caught up again in time to
start it all over again.
Right now the focus of my activities is promoting the scrapbooking
cruise my partners and I are organizing (email me if you're
interested...it's a VERY good deal, even if you don't scrapbook!) and
getting through the next few weeks before Thanksgiving.
I found out in October that I am hosting and we may have a bunch of
Mark's family here. This will be the first time I have hosted for his
family (in the past its been just the kids and a few bachelor friends).
I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Mark's sister usually does
a wonderful meal, and it was Mark's mom before that.
Don't recall if I mentioned that my son completed his Eagle project. He
now has one Merit Badge left to complete the whole deal plus his
Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review. I'm really excited about
that, but terrified also, because that means I then have to start
planning his Court of Honor, which is a big deal. I had hoped to get
all his scrapbooks caught up before then, but it is looking less and
less likely. I keep trying to work on them, but other stuff just keeps
getting in the way. :(
We had some bad things happen around here, too. About a month ago,
unbeknownst to me, I had two NSFs on my bank account. The bank waited
more than a week before they sent out the first notice, during which
time I had additional charges. It was bad because I had no idea it was
occurring (addition error) and the bank never notified me. So then the
next paycheck goes through, weeks have passed, I think I'm good, and I
suddenly get a wad of NSFs in the mail. They had a whole bunch of them
and just waited to send them to me until I had close to $600 in NSFs
(because they just kept multiplying on each other). The crazy thing is,
that one of the checks should have cleared if they had done them one at
a time, but because they presented them simultaneously, there was not
enough money for them combined, so they both bounced. And then, because
I didn't know I had a $40 error and two $25 NSF fees, I thought I had
close to $100 and kept spending it in lots of SMALL transactions, which,
of course, were all PAID but wracked up additional NSFs. It made me
totally mad at my bank because these are the same guys who in the past
have ALWAYS called me if I was TWO DOLLARS over my balance. They also
call me to verify the validity of every online/EFT that's more than
$300! Oh, and the one payment they DIDN'T clear? That would be my
automatic Discover Card payment...the one that would have completed more
than a year of solid, regular on-time payments and would have allowed me
to request an interest rate reduction. ARGH! So then hubby gets paid
again on Friday, and I'm afraid to spend any money until I can check the
balance... So I call the automated phone line, and they haven't updated
the balance since THURSDAY! Normally, it's up to the minute. :( So I
spent the whole weekend not knowing how much money I even have!
Then a couple of weeks ago, my daughter went in to work only to be sent
home. They laid her off. No notice, no severance, no nothing. This is
AFTER they already cut her from salaried to hourly and then cut her
hours to less than 40 so that she didn't even have enough money to pay
her bills and she was already looking for a part-time job to supplement
without any luck. She did get hired for about 10-15 hours a week at a
local scrapbook store, but she still doesn't have enough to pay the rent
or car payment, and now they've cut off her phone and her electricity.
What's worse is that we can't help her because of the crazy crap with
my bank. As it stands, hubby got paid Friday, and I still have no clue
exactly how much money I have in my account.
So life is busy. And it sucks. But I don't smoke. So neither should
you! :)
