I can live with top posting too, if that's the way the thread has been
going. But when you have 3 or 4 responses all bottom posted and then
someone comes in with a top post, it can be irritating.

Oh my gosh it's the top/bottom posting thing again. This is, like, the
eighteen-gazillionth time, now.

I don't care enough to argue endlessly but don't mind stating my
preference and my rationale and what I do for others to consider.

I usually top post because I personally find it tedious to have to
scroll in the message window until I find the new text. Unless I'm
really very interested in a post, I will skip a post as soon as I see
that it has old text at the top. Life is too short to spend a lot of
time scrolling.

So I post at the top, and leave the original post at the bottom as
reference. I don't need it to read like a conversation, but I
appreciate that old text is there in case there's a need to check it.

That is all. I know there will be anger and mayhem on this subject
shortly. If you post it at the top, I might even read it.

If a post is really short, I might bottom post.

Ian posted in another thread on how to respond to a prior post s one
that will never be resolved here or in any other NG I've ever seen. I
personally delete the prior message unless I feel that a clip of what
was written will help make my response make more sense. I personally
find it hard to find responses inserted into the middle of a post and
nothing is worse than a bottom response to a post that is LONG. Seems
most of the time, those folk usually only say 'me too' which really
could have been posted on it's own.

That's my 3-cent opinion but I bit each of us have our own reasons why
we post/respond the way we do and will 'spain it here until this
thread tops 100 responses.
