17 days without the killer weed. I'm not sure what prompted me this
time but I know that at 5:30 am on 1/31/09 I picked up my pack of cigs
to go outside. I was already feverish and feeling sick. I remember
looking at the pack and at my lighter and realizing I don't even like
smoking. I sent up an urgent plea for help from the Man Upstairs. I
haven't touched one since.
That day I ran the mother of all fevers (104.3 at the highest) and
continued with fairly high fevers all week. I finally went to the
doctor on Wednesday and found out I had pneumonia. I'm still trying
to recover completely but I decided I liked breathing. It's amazing
what you can do when you discover you're too sick to even smoke! I
got hit by some massive cravings last week and went on the patch
rather than give in to the cigs. So far, still smoke free. Once I'm
through with this batch of patches, I'm off of those as well.
Wish me luck and I'll pop back in to report progress or lack thereof.
Luck has little to do with it. Determination does. Commitment does.
Strength does. Use the patches as you need them. You've done the
right thing and welcome to AS3. For any advice or support you need
this is the place.
