Well...I'm still here!  Still walking/running (mostly walking!)...
Today, my son is home ill with a stomache ache from school, so, I
decided it was best if I didn't go on my dogwalk.  I decided to use
the treadmill instead.

My observation is that the treadmill could be a great friend.
However, it is not nearly as inspiring and exhilirating as walking the
dogs in the cold, fresh winter air.  It does give me accurate distance/
time measurements.

I'm currently walking 2 miles daily.  It takes me about 45 mins.  I am
out of shape, so, those numbers aren't spectacular by any means, but,
I don't really care about that yet.  I'm mainly concerning myself with
exercising at least once daily.  2 miles daily is a far cry from doing
nothing...which is what I was doing before my dog-walking program.

I have only minor soreness, as I am taking things slowly and
progressing slowly.  I'll be content with the 2 miles combining
walking/running for awhile now.  I am handling it fine.  It does wear
me out a little.  I get pretty tired by the end of the day.  My chubby
body isn't used to any REAL exertion, I'm afraid.  This is all new to
me! LOL.

So...exercise is going fine.  I wish I had "BUNS of STEEL", "THIGHS of
STEEL" ..."BODY BY BOWFLEX"...but, uhm...not quite yet...LOL.
Eventually, I suppose I should add some strengthening, toning
exercises with my routine.  For now...I'll stick with my current
program.

Diet...
I'm making small changes.  Trying to eat the most nutrient dense foods
I can think of.  Trying to eliminate all the CRAP I've been consuming
for years.  I don't want to be so drastic that I can't tolerate all of
this, but, so much of my diet was garbage, that most of it is slowly
being replaced with healthier/better choices.  Oh sure, I'll treat
myself...because I'm never going to completely give up my pizzas and
regular Cokes...just...not going to eat as MUCH of it.

Trying to drink more water.  That's going fine.

Little changes so far...eliminated all my WONDERBREAD type breads
(highly refined white breads)...substituting butter with 0 trans fat
spread (I'm sorry...but, this really is no where near as good as
BUTTER.  I don't care what ANYONE says...but, I'll try to stick with
it)...Switched out all my WHOLE milk products for fat free...
(again...I think this SUCKS...I am a WHOLE milk kind of girl...but,
I'm going to try to get used to the blue watery milk...my kids like it
better...imagine THAT)...

doing more whole grains...
drinking 100% juices...
doing low fat/no fat...
watching calories closer...

TRYING to find veggies that I like...I DON't...so don't know what I'll
do about that.

Taking my daily multivitamin.

I'm hoping I can stick with this.  Maybe...if I post my little
babblings here...it'll help me be accountable...just like it does for
not smoking...

I think the exercise is helping me sleep better at night.

OK...that's enough for now...LOL  I'll bore you all to tears with
these types of posts...but, what the heck...if it helps someone,
anyone...ME...I'm going to try to keep you all posted on this little
exercise & diet plan of mine!

Oye! Good! Good! Good! PKK!

I walked my eldest this morning to her stage band practice at school
(20 mins brisk walk at 7:20 AM).

Tuesday we had *tons* of snow -- big, big fluffy flakes falling
everywhere. My youngest and I walked the eldest across town to her
guitar lesson. It was at dusk with the Christmas lights shining the
full length of the downtown area. My youngest commented it was just
like in 'It's A Wonderful Life' (it's a small town with a late 19th -
early 20th century downtown area). We did nearly 2 hours of walking
-- not brisk walking because of the snow but still a good workout. We
then stopped on our way home at the Irish Pub on the main street and
got the window table so we could watch the snow fall. It was all very
good.

I'm cutting back on red meat, switching when worthwhile to meat
substitutes (ground beef) and aiming on losing the spare tire this
winter. Let's wish ourselves Great Determination.

It's all good, isn't it?!?!?

Cheers!
