These past two weeks have been, well, .... a bitch.  On Monday, Nov.
24, my husband was fired from his job.  We'd seen it coming for the
past few months, but I never in my wildest imagination would have
thought they'd get rid of him before Christmas.  (in a nutshell: a few
months ago his boss died very suddenly - went home early one day
feeling sick and was found dead the next morning.  His replacement is
a young man who, after a few months on the job,  began getting rid of
key employees and replacing them with his buddies.  His replacements
have included new attorneys for the loan dept. [DH was the credit &
collection manager in a credit union] and a new collection agency to
handle write offs.)  I'm quite sure the termination was in the works
when DH had his neck surgery so that "bought" him a few more weeks...

The next Mon., Dec. 1, we got a certified letter from our landlord
that our lease was not being renewed and we need to be out no later
than Dec. 31.  Merry fucking Christmas.

DH has been looking for work through Monster.com and had a phone
interview a few days ago that has resulted in a job offer.  The job is
exactly what he wants and is very qualified for.  It's in Scranton,
PA.  The offer was made today and we have the weekend to think it
over.

My head is spinning.  Right now I just want to crawl into my warm bed
and find something stupid on the boob tube to lull me into
unconsciousness - is that a word?

Now where the hell did I put that winning lotto ticket?

You and your husband may not have much choice BUT to move. I know
people that have been out of work for months and months with no job
offer in sight. Just look at AZ what hell he's going through.
I would rather live in Scranton then where you live now. Having an
income other then unemployment I'd move to Alaska, even though I
despise the cold.

You can get some great stuff from the Amish, natural butter and cream
and unadulterated milk, eggs and organic veggies and cheese. Although
most of PA is still in prohibition stage in some areas, I remember
finding a store that sold nothing but beer, was just like a walk-in
freezer with beer from all over the world.

I wish you nothing but the best. I know it's hard right now, but you
at least can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay strong and take care.
Love Lizzy
