Shadow chose us 5 years ago when we visited a rescue centre. We had always
had small dogs before and had never thought of owning a lurcher. But he
did
us a favour choosing us and allowing us to be his family. He had a
wonderful temperament and was a delight to have in our home. He had slowed
up but, 3 months ago, after a spell with an upset stomach we took him to
see the vet. She gave him a couple of antibiotic injections and he was our
old Shadow again. We were so pleased. Our daughter visited on Friday and
exclaimed at his weight loss. He had gone off his food so back to the vets
he went. She had him in as surgery was necessary. When she opened him up
he was found to be full of a particularly invasive cancer, so he was not
allowed to come round. Of course we had no idea he was so very ill.
But what a shock it was to us. We adored that dog. He is buried under his
tree so he can still keep an eye out for the squirrels! He's like Maude.
He hated them.

Sorry to hear the Chris you did a great thing here though, you gave
shadow a great life, look back on the good times , always hard to lose
a loved pet.
Since my wife has left me Martin my son in law brought his dog Stella
a 3 year old staffy bitch with one eye (trod on my a horse). Under
times of stress I am a pacing sort of a guy, up and down the kitchen.
Stella would watch me from the door way for a bit and then follow me
up and down the kitchen so I would stop, get her lead and take her on
the river bank for a walk. This blew all the stress away. Helped me
through a few bad days and I don't think she knew she had done it.

her missing eye is on her dark patch side so it hard to see

Sorry for your loss
Kind Regards Chris
