Sorry about the extra ***, though. How's he feeling, by the way?

Thanks for making me smile, Jef.!!!

Well, he had himself discharged this morning AMA. He's convinced he
did NOT have a heart attack, the doctors here in little ol' Clinton
don't know anything (an opinion many people agree with) and he's just
fine.

Oh for fuck's sake. Pardon my fucking French.

The doctor here made a valiant attempt at convincing him to stay for
additional tests, but AH didn't want to hear any of it. In fact, he
was a bit belligerent with the doctor. He has an appt. Thursday with
his regular cardiologist in Davenport.

I know what I heard the doctor here say, but can only presume AH is
being honest with me about what the doctor in Davenport said.

I took the rest of the day off. I just couldn't face going into work.
Besides, I would have missed my 4th anniversary. :-)

AH continues to smoke. I've decided I'm not going to cut him any
slack for anything. If he's convinced he's "just fine" then he
doesn't deserve any slack. The neurosurgeon removed his neck staples
last Friday and said he was ready to return to work when he felt
ready. I'd like to kick his ass out the door tomorrow to go to work,
but I have no doubt he'll use up every minute of sick leave he has
left. After today that's exactly 32 hours. He has no vacation hours
left, either.

I am appalled by his conduct and admire your attitude. You poor angel.
It's his choice, though. As you well know, you can't make somebody quit.

I had two brothers who refused to quit, refused to admit their smoker
friends' premature deaths to cancer were related to their smoking, etc.,
etc. But when they finally got sick enough (one had a stroke, the other a
collapsed lung), they quit on a dime. (The eldest didn't quit soon enough
and died of esophageal cancer a couple of years later.) I really had my
fingers crossed that this heart attack would have a similar effect on your
DH.

The miracle may still happen. I'll keep crossing my fingers.

To celebrate my 4Y I bought a small container of chocolate ice cream -
a premium brand! - and a small jar of marshmallow creme. Chocolate
ice cream with marshmallow topping has been a favorite since I was old
enough to talk. To justify this indulgence I had a salad for dinner
with an oil & vinegar dressing.

I'm going to enjoy every single bite of that ice cream! (Keep your
fingers crossed it doesn't make me sick :-)

Good on ya, BB. You take care of yourself, get lots of rest, and eat
right -- including ample servings of ice cream!

ep ooooooooof
