Re: Last instalment of horror story - ot

OH, Ian, that truly was the week from hell. Please take care of
yourself. I'm glad you're feeling better, breathing better.

If you missed the first two, I fear this will be pretty meaningless....
Now we come to Saturday, with my computers all together again thank God.
I got up that morning, got a shower, got dressed, got more out of
breath as I did.
Got to the kitchen and began to make a cup of instant. Without warning, I
fell backwards and once again hit the kitchen floor! This is getting
monotonous...
Landed mainly on my bottom and then the back of my head got a bit of a
bump, no harm done though.
This didn't look good. I was terribly weak and out of breath. I rang
Alex Mason who had driven me here on Tuesday, and he is in the business
of supplying home assistance, in my case, he decided to take the job
here on himself for Saturday.
And very useful he was too - cooked me a Marie Callander pot pie, and
later a chop and an egg, fried.
He reckoned half the problem was my lack of nutrition. As I mentioned
once, I had stopped going to the dining room at Waterford, simply
because the food was so lousy, and the kitchen in the apartment was
a symbolic tiny thing, not easy even to microwave something. So I was
definitely short on food intake.
I also got him to get me out on the concrete bit outside the front door
here, as I'd been trapped in the apartment and not able to get any
sunlight for a month.
Need the B1 or whatever vitamin it is you get from sunlight.
Actually the doctor's nurse rang Thursday and it seems the latest blood
sample showed some anaemia, which I've never had before.
I have to go back for another test so he can determine the cause.
So, back to Saturday, Alex was here for about nine hours (he is not
doing this for free you understand! But well worth it, I'd say.
He thought it best to keep me in the wheelchair most of the time and
sort of walking the thing along instead of pushing on the wheels to make
it move.
Quite tiring but probably safer than trying to walk when unsteady.
And keeps the legs moving too.
Today, I am breathing a bit better, managed to make a coffee first
thing, without toppling over.
Only used the wheelchair briefly, been walking not too bad. In fact,
this afternoon I went on the treadmill for a timed five minutes, and got
a bit out of breath but tolerable. So things are improving a bit.
From tomorrow, Alex Mason is to provide a home help for 8 hours a day,to
cook, etc. If
I get some nutrition down me daily I'll restore my badly depleted
reserves.
And, that is about it! A rather horrible week, all in all. And where I
once had a nice well organized house, before the first movers descended
on it, and the idiot woman remover fetched it all back in and dumped it
regardless, I now have some bit restored to normal but still a lot of
chaos and one or two missing things.
Worst of all, I now have no XM satellite receiver in working order,
neither work. I miss that a lot. I may have to cut my losses and get a
couple of new ones.

Early Monday: got up at four a m and am going to make a good breakfast
like I was doing before the move into hell, i.e. chips, egg, bacon,
all dripping in hot lard!
