they all can tolerate heat if they have fresh water and some shade. now you
need to decide if you want brown eggs or white.
I suggest getting ready to lay birds ( about 17 weeks) we just bought 20
last month for 8 bucks each. it might seem steep but considering you don't
have to feed them for that long with nothing to show prices are different
down your way I am sure. but if you like baby chicks day olds( and who
doesn't) knock yourself out.
and if you like fresh eggs imagine what fresh chicken taste like, if you
have room get yourself some meat hens ( don't mix the birds) the taste
difference is HUGE and store bought chicken taste plastic to me now. they
grow really fast. last year we had 40 of those ( shared some with my folks).
but diffidently start out with some layers, even three will give you enough
eggs for your own use.

I want to get myself a couple of chickens, because 1: I hate the
storebought eggs and 2: soon I will not be able to afford to buy eggs.
So I thought what kind to get: Rhode Island Reds, White Leghorns?
How do they tolerate the heat?
Do you know of a breed that would be OK in this climate - Mid-
Floridah?
