Thanks for busting this bozo, Becky! I'd taken a peek at the posting
but did NOT have the time to blast it eariler. I get fed up with
bozos who knock any of the methods used to get smober. What works for
me is what matters and depression is usually a side effect of
withdrawl since you are taking away all of the stimulents that smoking
gives you.

If I could toss in my two pennies here, I'd hesitate to categorically
denounce this as spam. Although there has been quite a bit (ok, a
hell of a lot) of spam here lately, there is certainly enough
emperical evidence to support possible links between Chantix/Champix
and certain "mental" side effects, including depression. Even the
warnings that come with it list depression as a possible side effect.
The possibilities are very real.
I know that Chantix has certainly caused me to be moody, withdrawn and
melancholy during the five weeks I've been taking it. I still lie
down and take a power nap almost every afternoon when I get home from
work--something I never did before taking Chantix. I feel that I have
much less motivation than before as well. For example, I had a day
off last week and even though golf is about my favorite outdoor
activity and the weather was perfect, I just couldn't get up the
desire to go out and play. I decided to take a nap instead.
I've actually been to the blog referenced in the original post and,
while it's true that it does have links to commercial sites, that's
nothing different than 90% of the blogs out there.
Anyone who is planning on using Chantix should certainly get as much
information as possible before making the decision. Also, talk to
your doctor about any side effects. I've seen testimony on very
reputable web sites (www.peoplespharmacy.com among others) that
sounded down right scary when I read it.
Having said that, I believe that the side effects of smoking are far
worse than a little moodiness for a few months and plan to continue
with my Chantix until I think I'm out of the woods on the smoking
thing. But to return to my original thought, I wouldn't dismiss the
post out of hand. My advice is free and worth every cent :-)
Cheers,
Rob
Taking Chantix for one month, one week, three days and not smoking for
just about that long. What's a little legthargy compared to not being
able to breathe?
