Re: Ten years quit

Congratualtions on missing you TOF, Phil! It would be great to be that preoccupied
with life as to miss this milestone. Thanks for letting us know it can be done.

: Hello, fellow quitters!

: I used to post here under the name Just Plain Phil. That was ten years
: ago. I quit for the last time on February 16, 1998, and haven't had a
: smoke since then.

: I like to come back now and again to encourage you all to be quitters
: like the other OF's here. I've lost my quit meter several computers
: ago, but I am sure the money I've saved would add up into the tens of
: thousands of dollars, as I smoked 1-1/2 to 2 packs a day. Benson and
: Hedges was my brand of choice, when I wasn't inhaling Borkum Riff in
: one of my many pipes.

: The good news is that yes, you will get to the point where you don't
: think about smoking at all anymore. Look at me - I even missed my
: ten-year anniversary by a month! You'll also get to the point where
: you'll come into work, walk past all the smokers huddled in the rain,
: snow, sleet, whatever - and be grateful you don't have to do that
: anymore. You'll also get the firm resolve that you'll never have "just
: one" ever again, because you know what will happen if you do.

: All of this stuff will be so much a part of your subconscious that it
: won't be bugging you at all anymore, and you'll find yourself doing
: other things besides smoking - things that will be much more healthy
: and beneficial to the new life you're living.

: So, keep on keeping on, folks. You'll be glad you did. And some day,
: after you've been quit for ten years or more, you'll maybe sign on
: here and leave a note of encouragement for the folks here, many of
: whom helped you out when you needed it most.
