Re: Exercise...oh no!

I'm with Steve as well, we each have to take responsibility for ourselves!
it's real nice when we have a partner or friend that puts the care and
effort into helping us along but we can't always depend on that and we can't
just wait and hope it's going to happen. sometimes we have to set the
example and if we're lucky it gets taken up, if not then we just have to see
what the future holds but at least we (you) will be doing something positive
towards it.

all too often relationships fall into complacency and when half of the
relationship seems to stop trying or caring/making the effort it's easy for
the other half to fall in line as well. it's going to take at least one of
you to try and make something happen and it looks like it's you!

Sue's right, if your partner carries on smoking and not looking after his
health who knows what the future holds!

the only certainty is that the fitter you are the more able you will be to
handle whatever the future brings and it might just give you some more
options as well!

i don't know how you should go about sorting the exercise out or how to get
your man involved but everything starts with the smallest of steps so just
start doing something and grow it from there.

My boyfriend and I have big differences in view here, and that is
slowing me down. I think it is important to not smoke as an entree to
exercise. He keeps puffing away and sitting at the TV. He is also a
very large man. This point driven home by my taking some older shirts
of his off hangers, folding them up, and both of us realizing he will
never fit into them again. He just gets bigger.
I want to get out and do things. I want to spend time with him, and
that means TV time.
Since I am crying in my beer, this schism is further accentuated by an
upcoming possible vacation I could take, but I owe him money and I
should stay home and pay him back. But I never go anywhere.
I'd like to wake up early to go to malls to walk before work. Making
supper is of primary importance in our house, and he cooks it, and if
preparation of that goes later into the evening, I don't get to sleep
in order to make it to the mall on time.
I guess we are acceptant of who we are, and there are disappointments
I create, as well.
I need to get out from under, here, or else it makes no sense to stay
quit from smoking. To what end? I treat myself well by not smoking in
order to not treat myself well by living a sedentary lifestyle.
Any suggestions, chip right in! It's deep freeze right now where I
live.

One month, three weeks, one day, 19 hours, 20 minutes and 43 seconds.
968 cigarettes not smoked, saving $191.28. Life saved: 3 days, 8
hours, 40 minutes.

I read Steve's response I think he is dead on. You need to take care
of you! If BF can't seen that exercise will improve *your* life then
you need to stand up for yourself and get moving - whether to the mall
or out the door for good is up to you. If he keeps smoking and
getting bigger pretty soon it's just going to be you so you might as
well be as healthy a "you" as possible.
