Hello everyone,
This is the first time ever being in a support group and well as the
first time quitting. I've smoked for about 10 years and decided it
was time to stop detrimenting my body.
I'm not sure what most of the symptoms are, but I'm going cold turkey.
Is it normal to feel somewhat sad, a little empty inside?? It just
feels the day isn't as bright or as exciting without the smoke.
Thanks for listening!
Fourth day is great Ccy, keep hanging in there. I can totally relate
to those feelings, but trust me, a cigarette is not going to make you
feel any better, only worse. Aside from the physical addiction to
nicotine, your body and mind have developed a psychological habit as
well. When we've become so used to doing something so many times a
day over many years, it's only natural to feel out of sorts when we
choose to stop. Those five minutes it would have taken you to smoke a
cigarette, and the repetitive motions of smoking are now free time and
it's up to you to take that time back and be good to yourself. Keep
your hands and mind busy with new activities that are incompatible
with smoking. Take a bath, grab some gum, dig out a Rubic's Cube The
days will get brighter and by staying quit, you can now fill that
emptiness with something so much more positive. It's said many times
here and is sometimes hard to believe, but it DOES get better. You
can do it and we are all here to help!
