If your intent is to deliver a mecahanism to direct people to
AS3, I would suggest a link.
My intent is to show, hopefully, 1) how **anyone** with an internet
connection can hook up to usenet, and 2) how it can be done at no
cost.
I am constantly reminded that there are people out there with little
or no internet experience. For the past 6 years I've worked for a
small company whose owner won't even give a nano-second's thought to
getting on the 'net. He's happy with "we've always done it this way"
and is convinced that change is NEVER good. He's not unique in this
small midwest USA town I call home.
During the three years of my quit I've talked to a lot of smokers
who've asked about how I quit. That discussion always leads to AS3
and its importance to me and so many others. The very vast majority
of these people can get around on the 'net, but "usenet" (What???) is
such a foreign concept that I lose them immediately.
I don't want to give people a link and leave it at that. Unless that
link is to the page I've written: "Usenet for Dummies." I want that
page to maintain the KISS principle, but be complete, getting the
reader from usenet's soup to nuts.
I'm really hoping for comments and suggestions from anyone who does
NOT consider themselves a computer geek.
