Hi Ladies, Jan and Lynn,
I heard this on my prime time news a few weeks ago, otherwise I know
nothing other than what google is giving me. I am neither promoting it
nor dis-promoting it(?). Just spreading the inane things that my brain
remembers as I trudge along. Why not?
The drug is: dichloroacetate or DCA and has already been used to treat
children with inborn metabolic disorder? and that is why Health Canada
can go to phase 2 trials for brain cancer now, and skip phase 1,
however, they will have to go back and test safeness and dosages. There
is no patent for it so the big drug companies with all the money aren't
interested, or so it seems. Feckers.

One group of people who were making and selling it have been shut down,
however they maintain a site that has the doctors' paper
(Michelakis/Archer U of Alta) and other info on it, some rather
technical, above my head.

I am in Canada and am wondering it this medical happenstance and
reporting of, for DCA, has been missed by the rest of the world which is
why I am sending this info.
Jan, I once watched a documentary about some groundbreaking research
being done in Australia for allergies and other immune backfiring
problems. Do you hear/read much of this on your
telly/radio/news/journals?I need a solution.
Wishing both of you and your families the best,
Tracy. (formerly known as Jbeth in case you missed her farewell.)

absolutely Jan I will keep him in my thoughts.
My dad has his brain tumor removed last Sept then had another surgury
in Feb of this year. the time they gave him came and went a couple of
times and the chemo pills he is on now seems to arrest the spread..
not sure about that but it isn't doing any harm. his MRI was being
done today. if you want I can get the name for you and you can ask
your doctor about it and see if it might help your hubby.
HI Lynn
I now remember as we were going through similar things about the same
time almost and any info you have that might help please feel free to
let me know.
I guess it's too early to have gotten the result of your Dad's MRI,
but hope the news is good please let me know.
As I said my husband is due to have his first MRI check up on the 8th
November, but doesn't actually see the Neurosurgeon until the 15th so
that we be hard having to wait and see if the bloody thing has grown
back at all. He did have quite a bit of the tumour still left on his
brain stem and they just can't remove that because the chances are
just so risky with the chance of stroke or even worse.
I think the waiting is the worse thing for me and my sons. He is
adament that he is not having any more surgery and I just have to
accept that, but he said should things have increased again he would
think about Radiotherapy but no Chemo so it's terrible justing waiting
and waiting not knowing what the future holds after November. I am
trying to be positive.
It's strange though, I worked in Neurosurgery for over 15 years up
till about 3 years ago and it really doesn't hit home until something
happens to your own family.
Anyway as I said anything that you may suggest I would appreciate.
Regards
Jan
PS
Are you in the US. if so where (if you don't mind my asking of
course)?
