Hi all,
after one year without smoking i started smoking again last week :( Can
somebody give me an hint how to stop forever. A friend told me that this
week smoking is like i had never stopped smoking.

[Remember, you *asked* for a hint on how to stop forever. I'm NOT
offering unsolicited advice. I'm offering a hint.]

Your friend is not completely right, physically speaking. It's going
to take more like a month for the changes to be complete, though they
have begun. Now your mental resolve can be gone with just on cig. Stop
now before your body reacts to the cigs in a way that's going to make
it harder to stop.

How to stop forever? Die. That seems to work for most people.

That was the thought that came to me.

Doctors
don't hook dead people up to smoking machines, so it's safe to say...
die. To be honest, I don't know if Heaven has a No Smoking policy or
not... well, if you can smoke in Heaven, at least your already dead.
OR... you could stop smoking while your still alive, deal with what
ever is causing you to re-lite and then move on.

Oh, if you don't like the dying stuff, try a ball peen hammer to the
forehead. Be careful not to hit too hard - just hard enough to become
a vegetable. Again, nurses at the state hospital won't hook you up to
a smoking machine.

Ha, ..ha (cough-cough).... ha. No, really... stop now since you just
have 1 week smoking. It's easier now than it will be after say a month
or two of smoking.

You have got to be honest with yourself and look at, address and fix
what's caused you to start smoking again. Us smokers are covering up
something broken, much like addicts do. You *started* again for a
reason. We all *know* why you continue to smoke. Yup, all quitters are
mind readers now. It came free with the version 4.0 upgrade us
quitters got since you last tried to quit... Oh, my bad... we ARE
addicted to the nicotine. That's why we keep on smoking.

Remember, you have got to fix *why* you started smoking again to stay
quit forever. The process *of* not smoking forever begins with
breaking an addiction. Two separate issues, Ok?

For me (starting again after a 3 year quit) it was utter lack of
concern for the consequences of smoking after a loved one died. I was
too chicken to commit suicide, so I decided to smoke strictly for the
addiction and could not care less about my slowly killing myself.
Sound sick, but I was so pissed and mad at the world I wanted lung
cancer. It's complicated and not all the broken pieces are fixed, and
they may never be fixed, but I've fixed enough of 'me' to give a quit
a fighting chance. If I had waited until all the stars were lined up,
I'd never be fixed enough for a quit to be easy.

So, to recap stop smoking, evaluate why you *wanted* to smoke
(careful... not why you want to smoke now) and do your best to fix it.
Do this and you'll have a better chance of staying quit forever.

Well, now that you have seen the truth, you've got no choice but to
quit now and quit for good. If you don't we'll have to try out some of
those other version 4.0 upgrades on you. I've been itching to try out
the Slash & Burn option.
