My MMMMM Speechhug
Yep I'm 27/64th OF
Here I am at 5 months.
or 151 days if you prefer.
I have not smoked over 4500 cigarettes or
225 packs or 22.5 cartons.
I have spent all that money on something else.
I am Happy to be a non/ex smoker.
This quit has more worth than anything I have ever done.
THESE ARE MY ORIGINAL QUIT REASONS AND THEIR FULFILLMENT
`To Feel better (I have reduced migraine frequency, eliminated morning
cough, eliminated asthma medication, and I run twice a week. I have also
lost most of my "quit weight" and have begun treatment for adult ADHD)
`To Play with Joshua (My son and I do so much more together. We ride our
bikes and run through woods, I never have to take a smoke break, when I
him, he smells me, not them)could
`To Live Longer (I can only hope that I have beat the Grim Reaper out of
another smoking related death. Time will tell if my last one was the one
before the camels back broke)
`To not die of Lung CANCER (I have done all I can do to prevent it, I
not say that before I quit)the
`To save money (Oh I spent it all, but I spent is in little
dribbles...Shaved Ice after baseball, cleats, Dessert after dinner, park
entry fees, a kid free Saturday night downtown, gas for the motorcycle,
little things that make life a little more fun)squirm
`To Not STINK STINK STINK anymore (I don't, I smell good...I mean really
good!)
`TO I NEVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN!!! (Never go through hell week
again. Never go through another crave. never go to the store in the middle
of the night cause I'm out. Never plan my activities around my next
cigarette. Never hold up a poker game to go outside and smoke. Never
through another meeting, missing it all cause all I can think about is aa
cigarette. Never stand in the cold, wet, hot, nasty to have a cigarette.
Never beg from strangers, got a smoke? Got a light? Never offer a stranger
quarter, dollar, for just one cigarette. Never again crush my own selfdo.
esteem because they, the non-smokers, look, smell and feel better than I
Never again feel second class cause I smoke.)in
OTHERS ADVICE THAT HELPED ME QUIT:
"A cigarette put up to your lips is like a gun put to your temple."

precious ground you are gaining now, minute by minute. (JOHN)

I know this might start sounding like a broken record to some of you who
have been around a while. Hopefully, it may even have helped you as it did
me, but this will be the last time I post it in 2005... I promise.
As we're headed into the "holidays", you might not feel completely secure
your quit. Those with less than 6 months quit (and some with more) betterovertime,
pay particular attention to this!
The nicodemon (as we like to refer to it) is very crafty. It works
especially in stressful times, to keep up its "quota" of smoking, sick and(151
dieing individuals in the addiction of tobacco.
But, it doesn't worry so much about those to whom it has locked in
discouragement. It is those who are eager to be free from tobacco that
concern it the most!
There are three areas (that I know of) where the nicodemon operates. Your
mind, your body and your soul. So! I have a remedy if you are able to
remember it... I've made it as simple as I possibly can!
The 3 F's Rule:
#1 Don't Flirt. This is an active, physical (stupid) momentum on your part
that will allow you to play with a cigarette lighter, take a big sniff of
2nd hand smoke (yuk!), hold a cigarette in your hand... LIGHT ONE FOR
SOMEBODY ELSE???!!! (You can't be serious!) But, this is the physical
touchy-feely trap that your nicodemon will fool you with.
#2 Don't Fantacize. You smoked for- how many years??? And, you wonder what
it would be like to smoke just one? Or, you think that it really did look
cool. That, you still have a few more years of lung-power to enjoy that
addiction? Smoking will somehow relieve you of all your problems!?
Fantacizing is mentally F'ing yourself. You need to pay attention to when
you are doing this!
#3 Don't Forget. There were reasons why you quit. I could list hundreds
myself! But, you made the effort to quit and you can't just throw it away
without knowing where you came from and understanding what you'll be going
back to! Smoking is all lies. The nicodemon will be waiting to take you
back!
