You will note that nail polish use is mentioned. I am wondering if nail polish might have some of the same ingredients as tobacco has for additives. Also people use nail polish remover which contains acetone, (tobacco contains acetone too.)

Typical popular nail polish brands include dibutyl phthalate (DBP)and formaldehyde (a known carcinogen in tobacco too.)

What is interesting about acetone is that it "it will go into the blood and be carried to all of the organs of the body. In small amounts the liver breaks these down into chemicals that are not harmful and uses them for everyday body functions."
