On How It's Made they showed a wide round moving conveyor belt type
thing full of checks. Stationed around the moving belt were people
who'd pick up a chick, look at specific feathers (uneven lenghs is one
gender, even lengh the other gender) Once the gender was determined
the chick was lightly tossed down a small chute, one female,one male,
for further "processing."

I've seen commercials for 'worst jobs' but I've never seen a show. I
remember the host, though, from his days as a host on QVC. :-)
