Re: OT: Vanage? Comcast?

Not being one to let a good troll die...

(*** warning, long diatribe follows ***)

Our entire discussion, before you so rudely jumped in and went off track, was about getting Vonage service in the US. Which article that you citied exactly has anything to do with service in the US being blocked? What major US MSO has ever blocked or even reprioritized VoIP traffic from a 3rd party? Please find that information which is germane to the discussion at hand. When we discuss global VoIP services the info you provided would be of significant value, but that is not the case here. When you jump into a discussion uninvited you are at a disadvantage since you don't know the participants. I'd chalk it up to the foolishness of youth, but as you call yourself an "old fart" you should know better.

As far as making the discussion uncivil, I don't see where you were invited to join it. Maybe I missed that part? You don't post to the group for how long and feel you can impart your wisdom on us by jumping into things that have no need of your meticulous research. Which by any definition of the word "research", searching the internet does not classify as such but merely having too much free time. That is the sadness of todays society where you can search billions of articles, some valid and some nonsensical and call that research.

Not that I need to explain anything to a troll, but with 27 years in the cable business, having been involved with CableLabs from the beginning sitting on the committees defining protocols for high speed internet and VoIP, plus managing engineering for one of the major 3 US MSO's, I would think my qualifications are rather good for this topic. When you have to search the internet to find supporting evidence that is not even on topic for the discussion at hand, I tend to think your experience with this subject involves turning on a TV or using the telephone.

Try contributing something to the group other than your rigtheous indignation. As you have changed your non-de-plume to protect the guilty, I have no doubt that with some simplistic internet searching ourselves, we could find your recent posts elsewhere that would show further examples of trolldom. No doubt if we knew your original internet id we would find further examples of trollishness. No wonder you vanished for so long. Trolls typically do hibernate in winter.

Now please go and vanish back again under the bridge you crawled out of, find another sandbox to play in, or maybe even grow up and learn how to contribute to a support group. The troll population here is kept to a minimum and no doubt you will either lose interest once again or be caught by others. It is hard to hide someones true personality, even under multiple internet presences.

I dropped in to see how things were going and I am using a new

trolling anyone.

Secondly, I didn't start an argument in this thread. Actually,
I agreed with cyberspiff and added on to what he was saying and
he took a civil conversation and chose to evaluate my comments
as "bull***" and "conspiracy nonsense." In most cases, people
state opinions, and those with certain perspectives are justified
in calling out bull***. However, telecom providers across the
globe have been busted for blocking VoIP traffic and it is not an
opinion - it is a fact and I know it is very disappointing for some,
but I posted supporting documentation linked in this thread to
prove it.

Spiff could have set aside his Internet ego and say that he or she
stands
corrected or deny those links really support what I say they do or
as a last resort, switch it to a personal attack and go with say....
call me a troll and say that it is not worth his expense to defend
himself.

I am not alarmed. My mother-in-law thinks that reading and research
is a flaw of mine and believes that I should spend less time
questioning
and more time fixing things. I'm sure spiff would agree.

And now the cat's mostly out of the bag, hello everybody.
