There it is, a VOF post in style with a great post and all. Congrats
on reaching VOF Inglo. Thanks for sharing your milestone with us.
Now let's party,
Robin.
"Inglo" <>schreef in bericht ...
Three years, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 9 seconds. 27414 cigarettes not
smoked, saving $4,797.53. Life saved: 13 weeks, 4 days, 4 hours, 30
minutes.
Every time I tried to quit smoking before, five or six practice runs, I
kept quiet about it with friends and family, so if I failed I wouldn't be
embarrassed. This time I was still pretty quiet with those around me at
first, but I made my first post here 19 days into it, here it is:

This is the first time I've posted here, this is the, I dunno, 20th time
I've quit.
I'm 19 days into it this time, I've been here this far only once before
(6/18/2001 - 9/11/2001). What's unusual is I've got "shortness of
breath" today. My lungs just won't fill up easy. This has never
happened to me before, not when I was smoking, not when I was 15, not in
the previous quitting/super withdrawal days.
Anyway, I just need someone to tell me its not completely bizarre. Is
it like there's a bunch more alveoli that have turned back on and I'm
having problems getting them air?
I quit cold turkey, this is the first time I've done it with zero
tolerance on the cheating. So I'm feeling pretty good about my chances
so far. ...looks like y'all are having fun here ;)

More than anything that's what this group did for me, some place to
reassure myself that I wasn't going crazy... or if I was at least I had
good company.
To anyone just starting out, for me, at least quitting wasn't that hard.
Once I decided I was really serious about it. Obviously it's not true for
everyone, but maybe it's true for you. I think of how often when I was
considering quitting I heard that stopping smoking was the absolute
hardest thing in the world to do, that discouraged and frightened me. For
me it was all a matter of truth in conviction, having achieved that the
rest was gravy. May sound strange but don't be afraid to quit or stay
quit.
I'm heading back to my vat of Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream right now
(VOF approved indulgence). Then I'll head for a few laps around the lake
on my bike.
Good Luck
