Lord, I love this "hi" guy. Has he been around before?yep.
Thanks, hieronymous (I recognize your name from the Michael Connelly
books, not the painter.)
Hugs,

Remember this one?
It's sort of my "Signature Poem".
Please pardon as I wax poetic.
Imagine everything frenetic.
Allow that this may sound a bit absurd.
What follows is the story of
the guy mentioned, "hi", up above
enveloped in this carnival of words.
....
"Step right up!", the barker hollered,
"It will only cost a dollar!",
as the crowd meandered through the fair.
"Have your future fortune read!"
His voice still rings loud in my head.
You should have seen it! Everyone was there.
So I stepped up, dollar in hand,
and paying heed that barking man,
I disappeared within that carny tent.
The fortune teller was a card.
I swear, I've never laughed so hard.
With no doubt, the best buck I ever spent.
This is a simple truth I'm telling,
about a sort of magic spelling,
The voice that fills this void is calm and callow.
Humor makes a spirit lift,
for most that's quite a special gift,
(and rhythmically it isn't hard to follow).
May I have your attention, a simple moment of your time?
All you have to do is sit and listen to this rhyme.
Gosh, it shouldn't take too long. I haven't much to say.
I hope you do not mind that it's presented in this way.
Can you find the pattern? Study the chronology.
Still, don't worry if it takes a while. You're just my prodigy.
Practice does make perfect. Isn't it obvious as to why?
Everything's revealed to you. It's right before your eye
Look on this as a lesson, a rare opportunity.
Listen to these words, "Examine everything you see."
"-hi-" stands for hieronymous - poet, prophet, and sage.
Here, you are -hi-'s audience, and this is -hi-'s stage.
Hi's a fortune teller. Hi's promise: Good Luck!
But no fortunes are free, for -hi-'s fee is a buck.
Hi can't be more fair. As you see, there's a charge.
For most it's a pittance, though for some it's quite large.
If you don't want to pay, then you needn't hear more.
If you've heard that before, don't assume what's in store.
Now, watch your objections. Please, don't start a riot!
To get the full impact, you'll need peace and quiet.
Hi verses on topics in manners motific
of text, taste, and temperature, to be specific.
The form of a fortune requires you two things -
to follow the meter, and listen. (It sings!)
The sound you will hear only lasts for a moment.
Latch on to the concept, and then let it foment.
You must pay attention to glean any worth,
and you must pay respect to all others on Earth.
These musts may sound musty, strictly speaking, and stern,
but you're free to choose just which lesson you'll learn.
So, see if -hi- cares if you do what you will.
You did it before, and -hi-'s sure you do still.
If attention and respect are things you think musty,
Would air get in there with an old feather dusty?
Hi's rhymes are for you, one and all, all for one,
Invested in jest, and committed to fun.
Everything here, every word that you see,
pertains to that subject - Ha-Ha ESP!
Sense extra perceptively. Soon, you can tell
that means Emergency Services Personnel,
and this doggerel versed in your behalf,
is just what you need - an emergency laugh!
A Seven-Oh-Seven is put to good use
in verse when rehearsed so it sounds like Doc. Seuss!
Now LOL! See, I just turned a funny.
If you're Laughing Out Loud then you're right on the money!
I'm proud to present for you now, me, Hieronymous! From origins as ancient as they are eponymous,
My name, if you've heard, or may already know,
means I'm Seven-Oh-Seventh in the line of Hiero.
707, LOL, see, it's "palindromatical",
and sometimes 'Ana' and/or 'Epi' grammatical,
and this might be that, or substantially more,
if it's worth it to you to see what lies in store.
....
-hi-
